World Day for Grandparents & the Elderly

Over the weekend, our parish community gathered at all Masses to celebrate Grandparents and the Elderly Day.
A heartfelt thank you to the students and staff of St Agatha's School, St Therese's School, and our Religious Education students for lovingly creating beautiful cards for our parishioners and the residents of our local nursing homes. Together with a special parish prayer card, these were distributed following the blessing at each Mass as a small token of our gratitude, love, and prayers for our grandparents and elderly members of our community. Lighting the Paschal candle we remembered our loved ones gone before us.
After each Mass, everyone was invited to stay for a cuppa and fellowship. Thank you to everyone who generously brought a plate to share, and to our wonderful parish groups for hosting the gatherings: the Hughes Family, Mothers Who Pray for their Children, Divine Kids, Samoan Divine Mercy, and Youth.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this celebration such a warm and joyful occasion. It was a wonderful opportunity to honour, celebrate, and pray for the grandparents and elderly who enrich the life of our parish through their wisdom, faith, and love.

YEAR OF ST FRANCIS

Year of St. Francis | Diocese of Portland
ST FRANCIS’ PRAYER
Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy.
O, Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled
as to console; to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
It is in dying that we are born again to eternal life.
Amen

Get to more about Therese and find out who help her along the way.
Through simple words and joyful pictures, My Big Adventure helps children understand that everyone is different, and that’s part of God’s beautiful plan.
